> Keep a landline alongside a customer's mobile. Both are tap-to-call, and the AI receptionist knows who's ringing from either one.

Plenty of customers give you two numbers: a mobile and the house landline, or a mobile and the office. Every client in Mucka holds both.

## Add or change it

1. Open the customer from [**Clients**](/clients).
2. Tap **Edit**.
3. **Mobile** is their main number. **Secondary number** is the other one.
4. Save.

Either box can be left empty. If you only ever have one number for someone, put it in **Mobile** and ignore the other.

## Or just ask Mucka

> *"Add another number for Andrew Mitchell, 01709 645998."*

Mucka puts it in the secondary field. Say *"change Andrew's mobile to…"* and it updates the main one instead.

## What each number is for

**Mobile** is the number Mucka uses for anything it sends. Texts, WhatsApp and appointment reminders all go there, and nowhere else.

**Secondary number** is for people to ring. It never receives texts, so a landline is perfectly safe to put in it. Both numbers show as tap-to-call on the client's record and on any job for that client, so an engineer standing at the door whose call went unanswered can try the other one without retyping anything.

## Your AI receptionist recognises both

If you're using the [voice receptionist](/help/ai/your-voice-receptionist), a customer ringing from either number gets greeted by name. Before, calling from the landline made them a stranger.

One exception: if the same number is saved against two different customers, Mucka can't tell which of them is calling, so it answers with a normal greeting rather than guessing. Caller ID is never treated as proof of who someone is.

## Common gotchas

- **Don't put a phone number in the notes box.** Notes aren't searchable from the clients search, aren't tap-to-call, and the receptionist can't match them. Use the secondary field and the number works everywhere.
- **Texts won't go to the secondary number**, even if it's a mobile. If a customer wants texts on a different number, make that one the **Mobile**.
- **Importing from Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent** brings in one number per customer. Add the second one yourself afterwards.
