# Merge a property you have twice

> Two records for one house? Ask Mucka to merge them, and every job, certificate and invoice on the spare moves onto the one you keep. Undoable for 30 days.

The same house ends up on file twice more often than you would think. One copy says **25** on the first line and **Testing Way** on the second, the other says **25 Testing Way, Nowhere** all on one line. An import does it, or someone books a job and types the address fresh rather than picking the one already there.

Merging puts them back together. Everything on the spare copy moves onto the one you keep, and the spare goes.

## Ask Mucka

There is no merge button. You just ask, in the chat, on a voice call or on WhatsApp:

- **"Have I got any addresses in twice?"** Mucka lists the ones that look like the same house.
- **"Merge the two records for 25 Testing Way."** Mucka finds them and tells you what would move.
- **"Merge all my duplicate addresses."** If you have a lot of them, Mucka tells you how many houses are on file more than once and does the lot in one go. For each house it keeps the copy picked from the Royal Mail address file if there is one, otherwise the oldest.

Nothing happens until you say yes.

## What Mucka tells you first

Before anything moves, Mucka tells you which copy it will keep and what is on the other one: jobs, quotes, invoices, certificates, service reminders and plans, appliances, tenants and the customers linked to it.

It also says which details the copy you keep will pick up. If one copy has a site contact, an arrival pin or notes and the other does not, they come across. Notes on both are kept, one under the other.

**The address itself does not change.** The copy you keep is the spelling you keep. If you would rather keep the other one, say so and Mucka swaps them round.

If a customer is linked to both copies, they end up linked once, not twice.

## Changed your mind?

You can undo a merge for 30 days. Ask Mucka: **"undo that merge"**, or **"put back the address I merged into 25 Testing Way"**. It tells you what it would put back and does it when you say yes.

Undo puts the spare copy back exactly as it was and moves back only what came from it. A job you booked on the kept address since the merge stays where it is.

An old link to the merged-away address still works. It opens the address you kept.

## What cannot be merged

- **An address mirrored from JobLogic.** JobLogic is still the source of truth, and the next sync would bring the copy back. Merge them in JobLogic.
- **A plot on a site.** If a plot went in twice, delete the spare from the site.
- **Two copies on the same service plan.** If both have the same plan running, cancel the one the customer is not paying for, then merge.

## Who can do it

Owners and managers. It needs the **Delete properties** permission in Settings → Roles, the same as deleting an address, because a merge takes one out of your book.
