# Issue an AC commissioning certificate

> The handover certificate for a new air conditioning installation, with the units, the refrigerant charge, the tests and your readings in both cooling and heating.

The commissioning certificate is what you hand the customer when a new system goes in — the record warranty claims lean on, and the document that teaches Mucka about the system so every later visit is prefilled.

## Fill it in

1. Start it from the install job, or from [**Certificates**](/gas-certs) with **New certificate**, the **Air Con** tab, then **Air Conditioning Commissioning Certificate**.
2. Name the system the way you would say it ("Go Raw split", "Warehouse VRF").
3. Add each unit, indoor and outdoor. Tap **Scan rating plate** on the unit and photograph its data plate — Mucka reads the make, model, serial and the nominal capacities off it, so the only long number you type is one it could not read. See [scanning a data plate](/help/gas-certs/scan-a-data-plate). Photograph the plates into the Photos section while you are at it.
4. Fill in the refrigerant circuit. **Scan the outdoor unit plate** and Mucka reads the gas and the factory charge straight off it; the pipe run, the additional charge and the total are yours. Mucka shows the CO2 equivalent and, where the law requires scheduled leak checks, the interval and a suggested first check date.
5. Link the pressure and tightness test and the evacuation certificate by serial, or note how the pipework was tested if the paperwork is someone else's.
6. Take your performance readings in **both cooling and heating**. Enter the saturation temperatures off your gauges and Mucka derives superheat, subcooling and the air-on air-off difference for you.
7. Work through the handover checks, set the first service date, sign, and approve.

## What approving does

Besides the PDF, approving a commissioning certificate creates the **system record**: the unit, its refrigerant, its charge and its leak check schedule, attached to the property. The next leak check or service at that property starts with everything already filled in, and the first service lands in your reminders.
