> Moving from Gas Engineer Software? Two exports you can download yourself in a couple of minutes, the rest you need to ask GES support for (Mucka can send that email for you), and why it's worth asking before you cancel.

Coming across from Gas Engineer Software? The Mucka team does the import for you. What we need from you is the data, and getting it out of GES comes in two halves: two exports you can press yourself today, and two you need to ask GES support for.

## The two you can download yourself

### Your customers

In Gas Engineer Software, click **Customers** along the top. On the right-hand side, beside the orange **Create Customer** button, there's an **Export Customers** button. Click it and GES downloads a spreadsheet of every customer: names, companies, phone numbers, emails, billing addresses and notes.

### Your job addresses

Now click **Job Addresses** along the top. The export button is in the same place: on the right, beside the orange create button. Click it and you get every address you've worked at, kept separate from the customer who pays.

This is the one that matters most. It's how a landlord with six rentals arrives in Mucka as one customer with six properties, rather than six jobs at the landlord's own house.

## The two you need to ask GES support for

The rest has to come from GES support: a list of every certificate showing which property it belongs to, a copy of all your documents, and your diary if you want your appointments brought across. GES has no export button for the diary, so it has to be asked for by name. The certificate list is the one that lets us put each gas safety record on the right property, and it usually takes longest to come back, so ask today.

Here's an email that asks for everything. Fill in the three bits in square brackets and send it to GES support.

<EmailTemplate
  id="email-ges-support"
  to="support@gasengineersoftware.co.uk"
  subject="Request for a full export of my data"
  body="Hi,

I'm moving my business to a new system and need a full copy of my data, please. Could you send me:

1. A certificates export (CSV): one row per certificate, with the certificate type, certificate number, issue date, expiry date, and the property ID, property address and customer it belongs to.

2. A properties export (CSV) that includes each property's ID and its gas safety expiry date.

3. An appliances export (CSV), if you're able to.

4. A full archive of my documents: every certificate, invoice and quote as a PDF. A download link is fine.

5. My diary: every appointment and job, past and booked, with its date, time, address and customer.

I've already downloaded my customers and job addresses using the Export buttons, so there's no need to send those.

If the original PDF file names aren't stored, that's no problem. It's the property each certificate belongs to that matters.

My account is [your business name], and I log in with [the email address you use for GES].

Thanks,
[your name]"
/>

GES support are open Monday to Friday, 9 to 5. You can also ring them on 0207 946 0503 and ask for the same things.

### Or ask Mucka to send it

If you've got the Inbox skill and your email connected, just say *"email GES for my data"*. Mucka writes the request, reads it back to you, and sends it from your own email address once you say yes. When GES reply with the files, Mucka puts a card in front of you asking whether to send them to the Mucka team. See [Ask your old software for your data](/help/getting-started/ask-your-old-software-for-your-data).

## Send them to us

Attach the files to a support ticket. Open [**Settings → Support**](/settings/support/support), or just tell Mucka *"I'm moving from Gas Engineer Software, here are my exports"* and it'll raise one for you. Send the spreadsheets as they come; no need to tidy or rename anything.

The document archive is usually far too big to attach. If GES send you a download link for it, pass us the link instead.

## What comes across

We've built a proper importer for Gas Engineer Software, so you come across with far more than a contact list:

- **Your customers**, and **every property as its own address**, including who's the landlord and who's the tenant, so a landlord's flats don't collapse into one record
- **Your gas safety renewal dates**, which set your reminders up from day one
- **The appliances at each property**: make, model, location and service due date for each boiler, fire and cooker
- **Every certificate as the original signed PDF**, on the right property: domestic and LPG landlord gas safety records, non-domestic and leisure gas safety, warning notices, hot water cylinder certificates and the OFTEC oil paperwork
- **Your invoices and quotes, as the documents GES produced.** They sit on the customer's record and open as the original PDF

Two things to be straight about.

**There's no job history in a GES export.** No past visits and no job sheets, which is why the email above asks for your diary by name.

**Old invoices come across as documents, not figures.** The only place a total exists is printed on the page, so they carry no amount in Mucka and won't add up in your reports. Anything you invoice from Mucka does.

## Before you cancel

**Don't cancel your GES subscription until we've told you we've got everything.** The certificates export and the archive come from GES support, and that's much harder to get once the account is closed. Your certificates carry the gas safety renewal dates, which is what Mucka uses to remind you and your customers when the next one's due, so they're the part you most want to keep.

If you've already sent us the two spreadsheets, start using Mucka straight away. When the rest arrives we add it to what's there, and you won't end up with two of anybody.
