> Give installations and servicing their own sales accounts so your accounts software shows what you earned from each.

By default everything Mucka sends to your accounts software lands in one sales account — the one you picked when you connected it. For most businesses that's exactly right and there's nothing to do here.

Some businesses want it split. If you fit boilers **and** service them, one figure for "sales" doesn't tell you which side of the business is actually making you money. Keep a sales account for each and your profit and loss does the splitting for you.

This is optional and it's off until you switch it on.

## Before you start

The accounts have to exist in your accounts software first — Mucka doesn't create them. Set them up over there (your accountant will do this in two minutes if you're not sure), then come back.

In Sage they're **ledger accounts**, in Xero they're **accounts** with a code like 4000, in QuickBooks they're **income accounts**, and in FreeAgent they're **sales categories**. Different words, same thing.

## Setting it up

Go to **Settings → Connections → Integrations**, open your accounts software and tap **Map accounts**. Under the sales account you already picked there's a link: **Split your sales across more than one account**.

Open it and you'll get a row for each one. Give it a name in your own words — *Installations*, *Servicing*, *Repairs* — and pick which account in your accounts software it should post to. Add as many as you need.

One of them is marked **Usual**. That's the one an invoice goes on when nothing else decides, so make it whichever you do most of.

**Name them for yourself, not for your accountant.** The name is what you'll see on the invoice screen, so "Installations" beats "4000".

## Getting it filled in automatically

Underneath, Mucka asks which account each **kind of job** belongs on — Installation, Service, Repair, Inspection, and whatever else you've set up on your job types.

Point each one at a sales account and you're done thinking about it: raise an invoice off a boiler install and it arrives already set to Installations. You can still change it on the invoice.

Anything you don't point anywhere goes on your usual account. Mucka won't guess.

## On the invoice

Once you've got more than one, invoices get a **Sales account** box. It arrives filled in and you can change it before you send.

The whole invoice goes on one account. If a job genuinely splits — an install with a service on the same bill — raise two invoices, one for each.

## Once it's sent, it's fixed

After an invoice has gone to the customer the box turns into plain text and stops being editable.

That's deliberate. Your accounts software has already filed it, and some of them won't let it be re-filed afterwards. If Mucka let you change it here, the screen would say one thing and your books would say another — which is worse than not letting you change it. If one genuinely needs moving, your accountant can move it at their end.

## If you change your mind

Renaming an account is safe — the invoices already on it follow the new name.

Removing one is safe too: Mucka stops offering it on new invoices but keeps it on the ones already filed there, so an old invoice can always say where the money went. You can't remove your last one, because then there'd be nothing to post to.

## Things worth knowing

**It only affects your accounts software.** Your customer's invoice looks exactly the same — the sales account never appears on anything they see. Your Mucka revenue figures don't change either.

**Two sets of books means two sets of choices.** If you've got Xero and Sage both connected, each named account needs an account picked in each. Mucka won't let you save half of it, because an account with nothing picked would quietly go to your usual one and look like it had worked.

**You can just ask.** "Put that one on servicing" works when you're talking to Mucka, on the app or on the phone. It'll only use accounts you've actually set up, and it'll tell you if it can't find the one you named rather than putting it somewhere and saying nothing.
