> Put a review button on the invoice page your customer already has open. Choose whether it shows once they've paid or on every invoice — and why that choice matters more than it looks.

Mucka already emails customers asking for a review after a job. This is different: a button on the invoice page itself, while the bill is in front of them.

It's worth having because the invoice is the one thing a customer definitely opens.

## Turn it on

Go to [**Reviews**](/reviews), open **Review settings**, and find **Ask on the invoice**. Three choices:

- **Never** — your invoice page won't mention reviews. This is how every account starts.
- **Once they've paid**
- **On every invoice**

It only works if you've got at least one review platform switched on above with its link pasted in — that's where the button sends people. Google, Checkatrade, Trustpilot, MyBuilder, Rated People and TrustATrader.

## Which one to pick

Read this bit before you choose, because **Once they've paid** does less than it sounds like.

It shows the moment a **card** payment brings someone back to the invoice — they pay, they land back on the page, and there's the ask. That works well.

Someone paying by **bank transfer** doesn't come back. They read the bill, open their banking app, pay you, and that's the last time they look at it. The invoice doesn't turn "paid" until the money's recorded anyway, which is usually hours later with nobody looking at anything.

So if most of your customers pay by transfer, **Once they've paid** reaches almost nobody — and it'll look like it's working, because it's switched on.

**On every invoice** is the one that actually gets seen. It sits below the ways to pay, under the total, so it's not in the way of getting paid.

## What the customer sees

A short line and a button per platform:

> **Happy with the work?**
> If we got it right, a quick review really helps Ryan's Plumbing — it only takes a minute, and it is how most people find us.

The wording asks rather than assumes, on purpose. Not everyone had a good week, and "leave us a 5-star review" on a bill after a job that went badly does more harm than the review would have done good.

Tapping a button opens that platform in a new tab. Nothing is sent, and nothing is filled in for them.

## Seeing whether it's working

Clicks are recorded against the invoice, alongside opens — so the pattern to look for is invoices that get opened and never clicked.

It's separate from the review emails and the reminders in [**Reviews**](/reviews). Those still work exactly as they did; this doesn't replace them or count against them.

## Checking it before anyone sees it

Set it to **On every invoice**, open any invoice, and look at the **Their invoice page** tab in the panel on the right. The block will be there with your platforms on it.

The buttons don't do anything in the preview — that's so your own clicking doesn't get counted as a customer's.
