# Change the lines on an invoice with Mucka

Ask Mucka in chat, by voice or on WhatsApp to change what is on a draft invoice. You can change a price, add a line, split one figure into several, or take a line off altogether.

Mucka reads the lines back before it saves, so you hear what you are agreeing to.

## Taking a line off

Mucka will not remove a line quietly. Anything coming off the invoice gets said out loud first — by name — and Mucka tells you afterwards which lines went. If it is ever unsure what you meant, nothing is saved and it reads you the lines that are on there now.

That is deliberate. An invoice is a document your customer is asked to pay, and the commonest way one goes wrong is a line disappearing while everyone is talking about a price.

## Splitting one figure into several

If you invoiced a job as one price and would rather itemise it, just say the lines and the prices. As long as they come to the same money, Mucka saves it straight away — it is the same work, written differently.

If the total changes as well, say which line is coming off and Mucka will do both at once.

## What Mucka will not do by asking

- **Change an invoice you have already sent.** Sent and paid invoices are fixed — see [Void an invoice](/help/invoices/void-an-invoice) if one needs cancelling.
- **Guess.** If the lines you give do not account for everything on the invoice, nothing is saved and Mucka asks rather than picking for you.

You can always edit the lines yourself instead: open the invoice from [**Invoices**](/invoices) and change them there. To change the order they're in, use the two small arrows under each line — see [putting the lines in the right order](/help/quotes/put-the-lines-in-the-right-order).
