> Mucka tells you whether the customer has opened the invoice you sent them, and how many times. Works on quotes too.

"Have they even looked at it?" is the question behind most chasing, and until now Mucka couldn't answer it. It can.

## Where it shows

On the [**Invoices**](/invoices) page, under the reference on any invoice the customer has opened:

> **Opened 3 times, last 2 days ago**

Same on the [**Quotes**](/quotes) page, and the same line on a phone. Open the invoice or the quote itself and there's an **Opened** date in with Created, Sent and Paid.

## What it's actually counting

Someone opening the **link** — the page the customer gets in the email, not the PDF attached to it.

Repeat opens within the hour from the same device count once, so a customer who refreshes the page or comes back to it twice in a row doesn't read as three people fighting over your quote. Over days it's a real count.

If the job started as a **live quote**, opens of that quote page count as opens of the invoice too, once the invoice has gone out. That's deliberate: the customer was given that one page for the whole job, so that's the page they're reading the bill on.

## When it says nothing at all

No line means **no open has been recorded** — and that is not the same as "they haven't looked".

There's nothing to open if:

- the invoice went out **in the post**, or you handed it over on site
- you sent the **PDF** yourself rather than using **Send**
- you turned the link off for that send and [sent the PDF on its own](/help/invoices/send-an-invoice) — there's no page, so there's nothing to open
- the quote went out as a plain PDF, without Live Quotes

So Mucka says nothing rather than "Not opened yet", because in those cases it genuinely doesn't know.

## What it can't tell you

It says the page was **opened**. It doesn't say the customer read it, understood it, or is about to pay — and it isn't proof they received it either, because the email could be sitting unopened in a spam folder with no page open having happened.

Where it earns its keep is the other way round: **opened three times and still nothing back** is a very different conversation from **sent and heard nothing**. The first one usually wants a phone call, not another email.

## You don't get pinged

There's no notification when somebody opens something. A view is a weak signal and your phone would never stop. You'll see it when you look at the list, which is when you were going to chase anyway.

Acceptance is different — when a customer **accepts** a live quote, Mucka messages you straight away on WhatsApp and on your phone.
