> Open the quote or invoice and change its status right there — beside the dates on a computer, or from the Status row on a phone. No need to go into Edit.

The status lives on the document itself. Open the quote or invoice and change it there — you don't need to go into **Edit**, and the edit form no longer has a Status box.

## Where it is

- **On a computer:** open the quote or invoice. **Status** is at the top of the column beside the document, above the dates. Click it and pick the new one.
- **On a phone:** open it and pull up the actions at the bottom. The top row of the block with **Edit**, **Share** and **Print** is **Status**, showing where it is now. Tap it for the list.

You're only offered the changes that make sense for where it is now.

## Quotes

Pick **Draft**, **Sent**, **Accepted**, **Rejected** or **Expired**. Once a quote is accepted you can also pick **Date offered – awaiting confirmation**, **Deposit paid** or **Booked in**. See [where an accepted quote has got to](/help/quotes/see-where-an-accepted-quote-has-got-to).

- **Rejected** asks why you lost it, the same as always.
- **Accepted** asks whether to put it on the diary.
- **Sent** records that you've sent it yourself. It doesn't email anything.

## Invoices

Pick **Sent**, **Paid**, **Cancelled**, or take a sent one back to **Draft**.

- **Paid** opens **Record a payment** with the amount filled in, so the money is recorded properly and goes to Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent. An invoice is never just labelled paid with nothing behind it. See [Record a payment](/help/invoices/record-a-payment).
- **Cancelled** opens **Void invoice**, which asks for a reason and what to do in your accounts software. See [Void an invoice](/help/invoices/void-an-invoice).
- **Sent** records that you've posted it or handed it over yourself. It doesn't email anything.
- **Draft** is only offered while nothing has been paid against it.

**Overdue** and **Partially paid** aren't on the list. Overdue follows from the due date and partly paid follows from the payments you record, so they keep themselves right.
