# Attach a quote to a job or a project

> Put an existing quote onto the work it paid for, so the price sits with the job or project instead of on its own.

Most work happens in this order: you quote it, you win it, then you set the job or the project up. That leaves the quote sitting on its own, and the price nowhere near the work. You can attach it afterwards.

## Ask Mucka

Open Mucka and say:

> *"Link Q-005 to Sandra's bathroom project."*

> *"Attach the Walker quote to the job on Thursday."*

Mucka finds the quote and the work, shows you what it's about to connect, and you approve it.

## Or do it yourself

On a project: open the project from [**Projects**](/projects), find the **Quotes** section, tap **Link a quote** and pick it from the list. The list shows every quote that isn't already on another project, with the project's own client at the top.

On a job: open the job from [**Jobs**](/jobs) and use the **Linked Quotes** section the same way.

To take one off again, tap **Unlink** next to it. That only breaks the connection, it never deletes the quote.

## The work address comes with it

A job knows where the work is. When you raise a quote from a job — or attach one to a job — Mucka fills the quote's **Work site** in from it, so the customer's copy is headed with the flat you are working at rather than the address you send the bill to.

That matters most if you work for letting agents, landlords or managing agents, where one customer covers a lot of different addresses. Without it, every quote to that customer reads as though the work is at their office.

It is only ever a starting point. The **Work site** box is yours to change, and if you pick an address yourself Mucka leaves it alone. Clear it and the quote falls back to the customer's own address, which is the right answer when there is no separate site.

## Sending it from the job

You do not have to go back to the Quotes list to email it. Open the quote from the job's paperwork and tap **Send** in the footer, next to Print and Share, and the email opens ready to go. Anything filed against the job is offered as an attachment underneath your message.

The same goes for the moment you save it: **Save & + Job** on a quote raised from a job keeps it on that job, saves it and opens the email straight away, so pricing the work and sending the price is one trip.


## What it changes

The quote shows on the project or job, with its reference, status and total, so anyone looking at the work can see what was agreed for it. The quote itself is untouched: same number, same lines, same status.

## Common gotchas

- **A quote sits on one project at a time.** Attaching it somewhere else means unlinking it first, which is why quotes already on a project are left out of the picker.
- **You need the Quotes skill switched on** and permission to see quotes. Engineers and subcontractors don't hold that, so the section doesn't show for them, by design: they see the work, not what it's worth.
- **Attaching a quote isn't the same as converting it.** Converting builds a new job or invoice from the quote's lines. Attaching just connects a quote to work that already exists.
