> Pick an area and a day, and Mucka texts the customers due there two real times that fit around the work you already have that day.

When you've got a job in Barry on Thursday, the best customers to fill the rest of Thursday with are the ones in Barry who are due. An area day does that: you pick the area and the day, and Mucka texts the customers due there two real times that sit around the work you already have.

Nothing goes on your diary or your calendar until a customer says yes and you confirm it.

## Start one

Go to [**Service Reminders**](/service-reminders) and tap **Plan an area day**. Or ask Mucka in chat, something like "fill Thursday in Barry", and it gets the day ready and gives you a button to check and send.

## Your areas

An area is a group of postcode districts you'd work as one day, like "Barry" for CF62, CF63 and CF64. You draw them on the same map as your booking page.

The first time, Mucka suggests a set built from where your due customers actually are. It goes by how far apart places really are, not by which postcode numbers sit next to each other. If you've set up an online booking area, it only suggests districts inside it. Take the suggestions and rename them, or draw your own with **Draw my own**. You can change them any time with **Edit areas**.

## Pick the day

Each working day shows what's already booked and where, and **already there** marks the days you've got work in that area. Pick one, and choose how long each visit takes.

Mucka then works out how many more visits the day can really hold, leaving time to drive between them, and it never goes past that. If your diary has a jobs-a-day limit, it sticks to that too.

## Check who gets which times

You see:

- **The times the day can take**, with how many customers each one is going to.
- **Each customer and their two times**, usually one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Overdue landlord gas safety checks come first, then gas safety checks coming due, then services. Untick anyone you don't want to text, or tap **Change** to give them different times.
- **Who's waiting**: anyone due in the area that the day can't fit. They're there for the next day you work that area.
- **Who's left out**, and why: no mobile, marked do not contact, replied STOP, or the visit's already booked in your diary.
- **The text**, exactly as the first customer will get it. Tap **Edit the wording** to change it. Keep `{{slots}}` in, because that's where the times go.

Each time goes to up to three customers. The first one to reply gets it, and anyone after them is offered whatever's still free.

When it looks right, tap **Text**. Texts only go between 8am and 8pm.

## When they reply

If you've got the AI receptionist answering texts, the customer just replies "the 2pm" or "Thursday morning's fine". The receptionist knows which times they were offered, checks the time is still free, and pencils the visit in for you to confirm, the same as any reply to a reminder. If the time has gone, it offers them the nearest free one that day.

Without the receptionist, the text comes from Mucka's shared number, so it asks them to give you a ring to grab a time and you book it yourself.

## If they don't reply

Area-day texts aren't chased, because a follow-up a week later would be offering times that have gone. Anyone who doesn't reply comes back into the list for the next area day there, a week after they were texted.

## Good to know

- Times come from your business's diary, the same one the receptionist uses, so it suits one person working one diary best. It doesn't plan a separate day for each engineer yet.
- Customers with no postcode on file can't be put in an area. The sheet tells you how many there are.
- Each text comes out of your text allowance.
