# See which merchant is cheapest

> Log your merchant notes onto the price list and Mucka keeps each merchant's price, tells you when you paid less somewhere else, and answers "where's it cheapest?".

If you send Mucka your merchant notes and ask it to put the cost on your price list, it now remembers **which merchant charged what, and when**. Buy the same part somewhere else and it can tell you which was cheaper.

## Logging a note

Photograph the collection note or delivery note and send it to Mucka in chat or on WhatsApp, or just tell it: *"Log these on the price list at 35% markup, they're from City Plumbing."*

Mucka puts each item's cost on your price list with the merchant's name and the date on the note. If the item is new, it's added. If it's already on your list, the new price goes on **the same item**, and the old one is kept, not overwritten.

It knows the same part when two merchants write it differently. *Grant Vortex External Combi PCB* on one note and *Grant Vortext External Combi PCB* on the next are one part. If Mucka isn't sure, it asks you rather than guessing.

## Being told when it was cheaper elsewhere

When you log a price, and in the last three months you paid clearly less for the same part at a different merchant, Mucka says so there and then:

> You paid £116.00 at City Plumbing on 21 September for this, against £120.00 at MKM now.

That's all it does. It doesn't change your price or your markup. Your sell price still follows the cost you've just logged, the same as before.

## Asking

Ask any time: *"Where's 28mm copper tube cheapest?"* or *"Is MKM dearer than City Plumbing for Mapress elbows?"* Mucka lists each merchant's latest price for that part, cheapest first, with when you last paid it.

## Worth knowing

- **It's your prices, not the merchants' live ones.** Mucka compares what you've paid, from your own notes, so it's only as up to date as your last trip. It always tells you the date.
- **Sizes have to match.** A 15mm elbow is never compared with a 22mm one, and a roll of 10 never with a roll of 25.
- **So do units.** A price per metre isn't compared with a price per 3m length.
- **Branches count separately.** "Screwfix" and "Screwfix Bolton" may be two trade accounts on two prices, so Mucka keeps them apart.
- **Prices from before this came in have no merchant on them.** They show as "merchant not recorded". The comparison fills up as you log new notes.
