> Turn briefings and nudges on or off, change their times, and set proactive messages to weekdays only — from settings or just by asking Mucka on WhatsApp.

Mucka sends a few things off its own bat: a morning briefing, an end-of-day summary, the odd notepad reminder, a daily heads-up if you've got action cards waiting for a yes or no, and a gentle chase when a quote or invoice needs attention. You decide which of these you get, when they land, and whether they only come on weekdays.

Mucka also watches for money loose ends without being asked. Finish a job that had an accepted quote, and the invoice lands on WhatsApp moments later, already drafted from the quote: "£2,400, want me to send it?" Finish any other job and leave it uninvoiced, and a card appears offering to draft the invoice. Let an invoice slip past its due date, and a chase card appears. Wrap up a quote visit, and Mucka messages you shortly after: "How did it go? Send me the details and I'll whip up the quote." Reply with the details and it drafts it for you, everything still waits for your approval before anything reaches a customer.

## Your business hours do most of this for you

Before any of the settings below come into it, Mucka checks your [**business hours**](/help/settings/set-your-business-hours). Briefings, reminders and chases only go out inside them — for you and for everyone on your team. Nothing below can make a message arrive on a day you're shut.

Set your opening hours and that is the whole job. There's no box to tick, because telling Mucka you shut at noon on a Saturday is already telling it not to message you at five.

- **It knows about half-days.** Open nine till one on a Saturday and nobody gets a briefing at half seven or a summary at five o'clock.
- **There's an hour of leeway either side**, so the morning briefing still lands before you start and the end-of-day summary just after you finish.
- **Bank holidays count as closed**, even though they fall on a day you'd normally work.

This applies to everyone on the team, not just you. It's the setting to reach for when your engineers are getting messages on a Saturday — not fourteen people each turning off their own briefing.

If nobody has ever set your hours, none of this applies and Mucka messages as it always did.

## Set it in the app

Head to [**Settings → Mucka → Notifications**](/settings/mucka/notifications).

- **How Mucka reaches you.** WhatsApp and push notifications. Switch one on and its own settings appear underneath it — your daily WhatsApp cap and the pause-after-no-reply live under the WhatsApp switch, because that is what they apply to.
- **What Mucka sends you.** The morning briefing, the end-of-day summary, the notepad reminder and the action cards reminder. Switch one on and a **Send at** picker appears under it. The cards reminder shows you the most urgent card in full, so you can deal with it right from WhatsApp by replying.
- **When Mucka can message you.** **Weekdays only** for briefings, notepad reminders and chase prompts Monday to Friday, plus your **quiet hours**.
- **Event alerts.** The things that just happen — see below.

Times are your own local time, and every person on the team sets their own.

What each person's briefing SAYS follows their role. An owner or manager gets the business — everyone's jobs, money owed, quotes still waiting. An engineer or subcontractor gets their own day: their jobs, their diary, their to-dos, and nothing about the books. Nobody is told anything through Mucka that they couldn't open on screen themselves.

## Or just ask Mucka on WhatsApp

You don't have to dig through settings. If your WhatsApp is paired (see [Set up WhatsApp](/help/integrations/set-up-whatsapp)), tell Mucka in plain English and it'll make the change:

- "Send my morning briefing at 8."
- "Move the evening summary to 6pm."
- "Turn off the notepad reminder."
- "Stop reminding me about my cards."
- "Only message me on weekdays."
- "Go back to messaging me every day."
- "I'm on holiday, leave it till Tuesday."

Mucka changes the setting and confirms what it did. It only touches the setting you mention and leaves the rest alone.

## Weekdays only vs pausing

These are two different things:

- **Weekdays only** keeps the messages coming Monday to Friday and goes quiet at the weekend.
- **"Back off" / pausing** stops all proactive messages until you say carry on. Just tell Mucka "stop these messages" to pause, or "you can start again" to resume.
- **Pausing until a date** is the one to use when you're away. Say "I'm on holiday, leave it till Tuesday" or "nothing until the 14th" and Mucka holds everything until then, and starts again on its own. You don't have to remember to switch it back on.

## If Mucka doesn't hear back from you

Mucka keeps an eye on whether you're actually replying. If it sends a long run of briefings and reminders and gets nothing back, it assumes they aren't landing and sends you a message saying it's going to pause them.

That message comes with two buttons:

- **Keep them coming** turns everything straight back on, and the count starts again from scratch.
- **Leave them off** keeps them paused.

If you gave Mucka a date to come back on ("leave it till Tuesday"), it starts again by itself that morning — you don't need to do anything. If you don't tap either one on the fatigue message, they stay paused. Nothing is lost, and you can switch them back on any time in [**Settings → Mucka → Notifications**](/settings/mucka/notifications) or by telling Mucka "you can start messaging me again".

Replying to Mucka on WhatsApp about anything at all resets the count, so if you chat to it regularly you'll never see this message.

**Replying does not switch them back on.** That's deliberate — you might be replying to say "leave me alone". So if you message Mucka while they're paused, it'll mention once that your proactive updates are off and offer to turn them back on. Say yes and they resume there and then; ignore it and it won't ask again for a fortnight. If you've paused until a date, it won't ask at all — it already knows when you want them back.

## What weekends-only does and doesn't affect

Weekdays only covers the messages Mucka *starts* on a schedule: briefings, notepad reminders, action card reminders, and quote/invoice chases.

It does **not** silence time-sensitive event alerts. If a customer pays an invoice on a Saturday, or a job gets assigned to you over the weekend, that still comes through, because it's news you'd want there and then.

## When the diary gets a big rework

If somebody in the office spends half an hour moving a week of work about, every engineer affected would otherwise get a notification per change — thirty buzzes in a quarter of an hour, which nobody reads past the fourth.

So the first one comes through straight away, as it always did. If more changes land right behind it, Mucka holds them and sends one message once the diary settles: *"6 jobs changed — tap to see what moved."* A single job moved on its own is never held up.

Cancellations are the exception and always arrive on their own. "Don't turn up tomorrow" is not something to bundle into a summary.

## Event alerts, and which rail they arrive on

Separate from the scheduled stuff above, the **Event alerts** list at the bottom of the same screen covers things that just happen: a payment landing, a job moving, a review coming in, and a customer accepting or declining a quote.

Every one of them is delivered by push, so with **Push notifications** switched off none of them are sent. The screen says so rather than hiding the list — you can set them up now and they start working the moment you turn push on.

A quote being answered comes through on **both WhatsApp and your phone**, because it's the one worth knowing about while you're still out in the van. Everything else on that list is a phone notification, so it needs the app installed. Each row is one switch across both rails — turn **Customer approvals** off and you get neither.

If it's the middle of your quiet hours, Mucka holds these until the morning rather than losing them or waking you.

## Common gotchas

- **Customer accepted a quote and nothing reached you?** Check **Customer approvals** is on under **Event alerts**, and that **Push notifications** is on above it, and that your number is still paired under Settings → Connections → Integrations → WhatsApp. Without a pairing there's no WhatsApp to send to, and the alert falls back to a phone notification that needs the app.
- **Nothing on a Saturday?** Two things can cause that. Either weekdays-only is on — turn it off in Settings → Mucka → Notifications, or tell Mucka "message me every day" — or your business hours say you're shut. Check [**Settings → Business → Details**](/settings/business/details); if you work Saturday mornings, put the hours in and the Saturday briefings come back inside them.
- **Team getting messages outside work?** Set your [business hours](/help/settings/set-your-business-hours) properly, including any half-day. That covers everybody at once, and it's a better fix than asking each person to turn their own briefing off.
- **Briefing arrived slightly before you opened?** That's the hour of leeway, and it's deliberate — a morning briefing is no use once you've already started.
- **No briefing at all on a weekday?** Check the briefing itself is switched on, and that WhatsApp is still paired under Settings → Connections → Integrations. If Mucka hasn't heard back from you in a long while it may have paused them, in which case it will have messaged you to say so.
- **Times look an hour out?** Times follow UK time and shift with the clocks. Set the time you actually want it to arrive and Mucka keeps to it through the seasons.
