> What the "New version available" bar is, when you'll see it, and why you don't need to chase it.

Mucka updates itself. Most of the time you'll never notice, and you don't need to do
anything to be on the latest version.

## The "New version available" bar

Now and then a small bar appears with a **Refresh** button. Tapping it puts you on the
newest version straight away.

You'll see it **once a day at most**, and on a phone only when you come back to the app
between jobs — never halfway through a certificate or a reading. We improve Mucka
several times a day, but you don't get told several times a day: those go on quietly in
the background.

## If you ignore it

Nothing bad happens. The bar is an offer, not a warning, and it waits for you rather
than nagging.

You'll get the new version anyway, without pressing anything:

- **When you next open the app** after it's been fully closed.
- **When you come back to it** after being away for a while — putting the phone in your
pocket for a job, say. Mucka does the swap while you're away, never while you're
  using it.

So if you're mid-way through something, ignore it. It'll still be there when you're
done, and it costs you nothing to leave.

## What it won't do

- **It won't interrupt you.** Mucka never reloads itself while you're typing, reading,
  or on a call.
- **It won't lose your saved work.** Anything you've filled in offline stays on the
  device through an update.
- **It won't cost you your offline copy.** Updating used to clear the pages and forms
saved on your phone for working with no signal. It doesn't any more — your saved work
  survives the update.

## If you think you're on an old version

Close Mucka completely and open it again. That always lands you on the newest version.

On a phone, closing the app means swiping it away from your recent apps, not just going
to the home screen. On a computer, close the tab and open [app.mucka.ai](https://app.mucka.ai)
fresh.
