Copy a paper CP12 from photos

Filled a CP12 in on paper? Send Mucka photos of it in chat or on WhatsApp and say to copy it. Mucka starts the draft, fills it from the paper and sends you a link. You read it through, fix anything, and sign it yourself.

90-second video. We're recording these now.

Did the inspection on a paper pad? You don't have to type it all in again. Send Mucka photos of the finished paper CP12 and it copies it onto a Mucka draft for you to check and sign.

It's being tried out with a few firms first, on the same switch as filling a certificate in by talking. If Mucka says it isn't switched on for your business, ask us and we can turn it on.

Send it

  1. In chat or on WhatsApp, send the photos of the paper CP12: every page, flat and in focus. A PDF works too.
  2. In the same message, say what you want: "Copy this onto a CP12". Say which job or customer it's for if you can.
  3. Mucka reads the paper and replies with how much it filled in, anything it couldn't read, and a link to the draft.

Check it and sign it

Tap the link. At the top of the draft is a note listing anything you still need to fill or check yourself. Every box Mucka copied from the paper has a small camera beside it.

Read the whole draft against the paper before you approve it. When you press Approve, Mucka shows you each result it copied, one more time, before the record is signed off. You sign it by hand, as always, and nothing is sent until you send it.

What Mucka won't copy

  • Anything it can't read for certain. A smudged figure or a cut-off box is left blank and listed. It never guesses.
  • A fail it can't be sure of. A box that just says "No" or has a cross is left for you to set.
  • A result that disagrees with the checks, such as a Pass on an appliance whose spillage test failed. That waits for you to choose.
  • Signatures. Yours, the landlord's and the tenant's are signed on Mucka.
  • The defect category (Immediately Dangerous, At Risk, Not to Current Standards) when it doesn't match the form. Set it yourself.

Only your own inspections

Mucka only copies a CP12 for the engineer who did the inspection. If the Gas Safe licence number or the business registration number on the paper isn't the one Mucka has on file, it won't create anything. If the number on file is wrong, change it in Settings. The inspection date is the one on the paper, not today's date.

Good to know

  • It works on the CP12 (landlord gas safety record) for now.
  • It's for paper you're about to sign on Mucka. Old certificates you've already issued don't need copying: keep the paper, or ask us about bringing your old records across.
