Supplier ordering is being tried on our own account first, so it is not on the Skills page yet.
Tell Mucka what you need and where you want to pick it up, and it does the ordering for you. Nothing is spent until you have seen the basket and approved it.
Before your first order
When you switch it on, Mucka walks you through three things. You can change any of them later in Settings → Money → Supplier ordering.
- Your card. It opens a secure page where you add the card and approve it with a passkey on your phone. The card is saved with Crossmint, Mucka's payment partner; Mucka never sees or stores the card number. When it's saved, you're brought back to Mucka.
- The name and billing address. Toolstation's card form asks for these. Mucka fills them in from your business details; check they match what your bank has for the card, then confirm.
- Your branches. Type your postcode or town and Mucka lists the nearest Toolstation branches with their addresses. Add the ones you collect from. Mucka never guesses a branch: every order shows you which one.
Changing your card, details or branches
Open Settings → Money → Supplier ordering, or on the Skills page tap Supplier ordering, then Card and branches.
- A different card: tap Replace card and save the new one the same way. The next order uses it.
- Name or billing address: change the boxes and save.
- Branches: search again and add another, or tap Remove beside one you no longer use.
Finding an order again
Every order is listed under Orders on the same screen, newest first, with where it got to: waiting for your approval, being placed, ordered (with Toolstation's order number), or stopped. Tap one to open its card, where you can approve it, answer its question or stop it.
Placing an order
- Ask Mucka in the app, typing or talking, for example "Order two rolls of PTFE tape and ten 15mm elbows from Toolstation for collection at Anytown." For delivery, it goes to the job's address, or to your office if it isn't for a job.
- Mucka finds each item on Toolstation's website and shows you the basket in the chat (on a voice call too): the product, its code, its price, the branch and the most it can cost. If it can't find something, it asks you rather than picking something close.
- Tap Approve with passkey and confirm. That approves that total, at Toolstation, once.
- Mucka places the order. The card follows it, usually for three or four minutes, and tells you when Toolstation has taken it, with the order number. You can stop it from the card until then.
After the order
When Toolstation has taken the order, Mucka records it for you:
- On the job, if the order was for one: the parts are marked as ordered, with Toolstation's order number (anything that wasn't on the job's parts list is added), and each item goes on the job's costs at the price you paid.
- For your accounts: an Add to accounts card is waiting in Actions, the same card a photographed receipt makes, with an order summary attached. If no accounts package is connected, the card asks which job it was for instead.
The VAT on the card is calculated at 20% from Toolstation's prices, which include VAT, because the checkout only gives Mucka the total and the order number. Check it against the VAT receipt Toolstation emails you before you approve.
What stops an order
Mucka stops rather than pays if:
- the total comes to more than you approved,
- an item is out of stock or different from the one on the card,
- it is asked to pay somewhere other than the merchant on the card, or
- it is asked for a second payment.
If the order needs an answer from you, Mucka sends a notification to your phone and puts the question on the order card. If your bank asks you to approve the payment in its app, Mucka sends an urgent notification and the card says so: approve it in your bank's app straight away (you get about three minutes). There is nothing to tap in Mucka; it carries on as soon as your bank confirms.
Screwfix
Screwfix isn't available yet: its card payments aren't reliable enough. Toolstation works now.
