Mucka links to other services for you: your calendar, your email, WhatsApp, Google reviews, card and Direct Debit payments, the apps you connect through Zapier, Go High Level and Mailchimp. Sometimes one of those links stops working. When it does, Mucka puts a card in your Actions list to tell you, and if you use Mucka on WhatsApp it sends you a WhatsApp as well. You don't have to go looking.
If it's Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent or Sage that has dropped, read Your accounts connection has dropped instead.
What the card tells you
- Which connection dropped, for example "Your Google Calendar connection dropped on 8 Oct".
- What has stopped since then. For a calendar, the jobs you've added since haven't gone into it. For the inbox, new emails aren't coming into Mucka.
- A button straight to where you reconnect it, so you don't have to hunt through Settings.
If the service has thrown the connection away for good, the card says "It will not come back on its own". Waiting won't fix that one.
Who gets the card
- Your own calendar or inbox: the card comes to you, not the owner. Only you can sign back in to your own Google or Microsoft account.
- Anything the business connects (WhatsApp, Google reviews, payments, Zapier): the card goes to whoever approves actions, usually the owner.
The WhatsApp
If you've linked your phone to Mucka on WhatsApp, you also get one message saying which connection has stopped, when, what that means, and a link straight to the page where you reconnect it. It goes to the owner, or, for your own calendar or inbox, to you.
You get it once for each time a connection drops, not every day. If you reconnect and it drops again later, that's a new message. If you reconnect before it's sent, or you switched the connection off yourself, there's no message at all.
It only goes to a business that's been using Mucka in the last fortnight. If you haven't linked WhatsApp, the card is how you'll hear.
Why it happens
Usually one of these:
- Somebody removed Mucka's access at the other end. Google, Microsoft and the payment providers all let you remove a connected app from inside their own settings, and it's easy to do by accident while tidying up.
- The password or the account changed. A new password, or removing the person who first connected it, can break the link.
- The service withdrew it. Some services stop a connection that hasn't been used for a while.
How to fix it
- Tap the button on the card.
- Tap Reconnect and sign in as you did the first time.
That's it. Your jobs, customers and messages in Mucka are all still there. Only the link to the other service had stopped.
What doesn't raise a card
- A connection quietly refreshing itself. That happens all the time and sorts itself out within the hour.
- A hiccup on the other side. If a service is having a bad moment, Mucka waits a day before telling you, because most of those clear up on their own.
- Switching it off yourself. If you disconnected it on purpose, Mucka won't ask you to put it back.
If you dismiss the card
It stays dismissed. Mucka won't bring it back the next morning. It only comes back if the connection breaks again after you've reconnected it.
