Cancel or downgrade your plan

How to cancel, how to drop to the free plan instead, what happens to your data, and how to change your mind.

Walkthrough coming soon
90-second video. We're recording these now.

There's no contract and no notice period. You can stop paying whenever you like, and you don't have to lose your account to do it.

Where to go

Open Settings → Mucka → Subscription and choose Cancel or downgrade. Only the owner sees this, because only the owner can change the plan.

Mucka asks one quick question first: which of eight reasons is closest to why you're going. Pick one, add a comment if you feel like it (that bit's optional), and carry on. It takes about ten seconds and it genuinely shapes what we build next.

Your two options

Downgrade to Free. Your account stays open. This is the one we'd point you at if the cost is the problem, because you keep the thing you've built.

  • You keep your account and all your data. Jobs, clients, quotes and invoices stay put and stay editable.
  • Mucka AI becomes limited: no proactive engine, and a tight monthly cap on replies.
  • Accountancy integrations are switched off. Xero, QuickBooks and FreeAgent stop syncing until you upgrade.

Before you confirm, Mucka shows you exactly what switches off for your workspace specifically, not a generic list. If you've got four people and Xero connected, it says so.

Cancel fully. The payments stop, your workspace pauses at the end of your paid period, and after 14 days it drops to the free plan anyway. Your data isn't deleted.

Neither option deletes anything. If you want your account and all its data removed for good, that's a separate, deliberate step in Settings → You → Account.

When it takes effect

At the end of the period you've already paid for, never the moment you click. If you're a month in and you cancel on the 3rd, you keep everything until your renewal date. You're not penalised for deciding early.

The Billing screen shows the date it changes, so you always know where you stand.

Changing your mind

Up until that date, Settings → Mucka → Subscription shows a Keep my subscription button. One tap and everything carries on as normal. No new checkout, no re-entering your card, nothing lost.

If you subscribed in the app

Apple and Google don't let an app cancel its own subscription, so the last step happens in their settings, not ours. Tap Cancel or downgrade on the Billing screen as usual, tell us why, pick your option, and Mucka takes you straight to your App Store or Google Play subscription screen to finish it off.

Your Mucka account is updated either way, so if you chose the free plan you'll land there rather than being paused.

Common gotchas

  • Owners only. Cancelling and downgrading are owner actions. Admins and engineers won't see the option.
  • Cancelling isn't deleting. Your data stays. Deleting is separate, and it's permanent.
  • Team seats on the free plan. Your teammates go read-only rather than being removed. They're back the moment you upgrade.
  • No refunds for the part-month. You keep access instead, right to the end of what you paid for.
