Put a job on somebody's diary and Mucka tells them. You don't have to do anything — it happens whether you dragged the job onto the schedule, filled in the job form, or just told Mucka to book it.
Which way it goes
Mucka tries these in order and stops at the first one that actually reaches them:
- WhatsApp — first, because that's where most people on site really are.
- A notification on their phone — if they haven't connected WhatsApp but have got the Mucka app.
- Email, and a text — if they haven't got either.
They get one message per job, on whichever of those reached them. Nobody gets the same job four times over.
When it fires
- A job lands on their diary — new job, or you moved it onto them from somebody else.
- A job they're already on moves to a different day or time.
- Somebody leaves the team and you hand their work to whoever is covering. That one is usually several days at once, and it's the one people most often didn't know about.
Adding somebody as support on a job tells them too, worded so they know they're helping rather than leading it.
If you're rearranging the whole week
Mucka bundles it. Work down Thursday moving eight jobs about and the person on the other end gets one "8 jobs changed" rather than eight separate buzzes. That's deliberate — a pile of individually-correct messages is still a pile.
Subcontractors
Subbies get told as well, the same way. A job going on their diary is the one thing that can reach a subbie on WhatsApp, because it's their own work and it's you who put it there. Everything else Mucka sends a subbie goes to the app or as a text, never WhatsApp.
Texts need a mobile number
Mucka can only text somebody whose mobile it's got. When you invite a new person there's a Mobile box on the invite form — filling it in is what makes the text option possible later. You can also add or change it any time from Settings → Team → People, on that person's card.
One thing worth knowing: if somebody connects WhatsApp, Mucka picks up their verified number automatically, and from then on it's locked to the number WhatsApp confirmed.
Texts never contain a link, on purpose — UK mobile networks filter texts with web addresses in them, and a filtered "you're booked for Tuesday" is worse than no text at all. The text names the job, the customer and the time, and they open Mucka for the rest.
Turning it off
It's per person, not per business. Anyone can turn it off for themselves under Settings → Mucka → Notifications, with the "Job updates" switch. That covers all of it — WhatsApp, phone notification, email and text — because they're the same message taking whichever route works.
Quiet hours still apply. A job booked at eleven at night waits until the morning rather than waking somebody up, and it isn't thrown away in the meantime.
