Say who's qualified for what

Record which of your lads has which ticket, say which job types need it, and Mucka warns you if the wrong person gets put on the job.

90-second video. We're recording these now.

Most firms have work only some of the team can do. Gas Safe for anything on gas, an unvented ticket for cylinders, 18th Edition for the electrical side. Mucka can hold that against each person and tell you when somebody's been put on a job they aren't carded for.

It warns you — it never stops you. Plenty of reasons to book it anyway: an apprentice working under supervision, a second pair of hands on a strip-out, a card that renews on Friday. Mucka says what it can see and you decide.

Set your list up

Go to Settings → Work → Qualifications. You'll be offered the usual ones for your trade — tap the ones you use, or Add them all, or type your own.

There's nothing clever about the names. Call them whatever you call them.

Say which job types need which

Tap the pencil next to a qualification and you get your job types as a row of buttons. Tap the ones that need it — Boiler Service, Gas Safety, Boiler Install for Gas Safe, say.

A job type you don't tick needs nothing, and a job booked as something that isn't on your job-type list at all never warns about anything. That's deliberate: you can book a job as whatever you like, and Mucka isn't going to start second-guessing a one-off.

Tick who's got them

Go to Settings → Team → People and open somebody's card. Under Qualifications, tap what they hold.

If a card has a renewal date, put it in the renews box underneath. Once it's gone past, Mucka reads it as expired rather than as held — which is usually a renewal nobody's typed in, and worth knowing either way.

One shortcut worth knowing. If you've already typed somebody's Gas Safe licence number on their card — the one that prints on your certificates — you don't need to tick Gas Safe as well. Anyone with a licence number on file counts automatically. Same for OFTEC and F-Gas. You'll see it said on the qualification in Settings.

What you'll see

Booking or editing a job, the engineer list shows a red flag against anyone short of something the job needs, and there's a line under the box: "Dave hasn't got Gas Safe — and a Boiler Service needs it."

Drag a job onto somebody in the diary who isn't carded for it and you'll get asked before it moves.

Ask Mucka to book something and it'll mention it too. It still books the job — you asked for it — it just says so on the way past.

Who can change it

Setting the list up and saying which job types need what is Manage workspace. Ticking what a person holds is Manage team.

Nobody can tick their own. That one's deliberate: an engineer marking himself up as Gas Safe registered is the exact thing this is here to catch.
