Mucka can put your jobs into the Calendar app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. You add a private link once, and from then on your phone keeps itself up to date: move a job and it moves, cancel one and it disappears. Each job's title starts with its job number, then the customer and the job: J-014 · Pat Example — Boiler service.
It only goes one way
Jobs go from Mucka to your phone. Nothing comes back. If you add your dentist appointment on the iPhone, Mucka won't know about it, and the phone receptionist could still book you in at that time.
If you want your phone's appointments to block your time in Mucka, connect Google Calendar or Microsoft 365 instead. Both work in both directions.
Got a Google account on your iPhone already? Your iPhone probably still saves new events to iCloud. Change that in Settings → Apps → Calendar → Default Calendar and pick your Google calendar. New events then land where Mucka can see them.
Add it on your iPhone or iPad
- On the iPhone or iPad, open Mucka and go to Settings → Connections → Integrations → Apple Calendar.
- Tap Make my calendar link.
- Tap Add to Apple Calendar. Your phone asks whether you want to subscribe. Tap Subscribe, then Add.
Your jobs appear in the Calendar app under your business's name.
Add it on a different device
Doing this on a computer but want it on your phone? Tap Copy link, send it to yourself, then on the iPhone:
Settings → Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Subscribed Calendar, paste the link in, and tap Next.
The same link works on more than one device, so you can add it to your iPhone and your iPad.
It also works with other calendar apps that can subscribe to a calendar, Samsung's included.
How quickly does it update?
Your phone decides how often it checks, not Mucka. Usually that's within the hour. To make it quicker:
- iPhone or iPad: Settings → Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts → Fetch New Data, and set it to every 15 minutes.
- Mac: in the Calendar app, right-click the Mucka calendar, choose Get Info and set Auto-refresh to every 5 or 15 minutes.
What goes in it
- The jobs you're on, with the customer, the address and what the job is.
- Your own appointments.
- Finished jobs stay, so you can look back at where you were. Cancelled ones drop off.
If you can see every job in the business, there's an Everybody's jobs switch to put all of them in.
Subbies and apprentices get the job and the address, but not the customer's phone number or email.
Keep the link to yourself
Anybody who has the link can see your jobs, including customers' names and addresses. If it ends up somewhere it shouldn't, tap Make a new link. The old one stops working straight away, and you add the new one to your phone again.
Turn it off removes your jobs from any calendar using the link the next time it checks.
If somebody leaves your business and you remove them from Mucka, their calendar empties itself the next time their phone checks.
Why not two-way?
Apple doesn't let other apps sign in to iCloud Calendar the way Google and Microsoft do. The only way in is a special password from your Apple account, and it stops working every time you change your Apple password. Rather than give you a connection that breaks without warning, Mucka sends your jobs one way, which never breaks.
