A job is one visit to a client's address. Mucka books the date, picks the engineer and warns you if anyone's double-booked, all before you tap save.
Ask Mucka
Open Mucka and say something like:
"Schedule the Walker boiler install for Tuesday at 9, three hours, give it to Marcus."
Mucka pulls up the client, drafts the appointment with date, duration and engineer, and shows it for you to approve. One tap to send the calendar invite and engineer's job sheet, one tap to dismiss.
If you only know half the details ("book the Walkers in for Tuesday morning"), Mucka asks for the missing bits rather than guessing.
Or use the form
Head to Jobs in the sidebar and tap New job. Fill in:
- Client the work's for
- Job type (boiler install, EICR, breakdown, etc., from your trade's set)
- Date and start time
- Duration (1 to 8 hours)
- Lead engineer (and supporting engineers if it's a two-handed job)
- Notes for the engineer (access codes, parts to bring)
Hit save and Mucka books it.
Double-booking warnings
If the engineer you've picked is already on another job at that time, Mucka flags it inline before you save. You can:
- Pick a different engineer
- Move the time
- Override and book anyway (sometimes you know two short jobs back-to-back works)
After it's booked
Mucka quietly handles the rest:
- The engineer sees the job on their schedule
- The client gets an appointment confirmation if you've set those up
- The job appears on the Schedule and Live Map pages
- Quote details (if there was one) carry through so the engineer has the price and scope on site
Whose schedule am I looking at?
The Schedule page shows the whole business by default: every engineer's jobs together. On your phone, tap the filter button next to the date selector and choose Everyone, Just me, or tick the engineers you want to see. On desktop, use the All Engineers filter, and each engineer has their own row.
Booked a time but not picked an engineer yet? The job still shows, marked No engineer assigned in amber, and an Unassigned lane appears so nothing slips through. On desktop you can drag a job out of that lane onto an engineer's row to assign it.
Common gotchas
- Recurring jobs (weekly clean, monthly service). Set the recurrence at create-time. Mucka books the whole series in one go.
- Multi-site clients. If a client has more than one property and you've got the multi-site skill on, pick the right property at create-time. The wrong address will send the engineer the wrong way.
- All-day jobs. Set duration to 8 hours rather than "until done". Mucka uses duration to spot conflicts later in the day.
