The Mucka Android app gives you native voice calls with Mucka, a faster shell than the web version, and (with a manual permission step) push notifications. Works on any Android phone running version 8 or newer.
Get it from the Play Store
Tap this link on your Android phone:
Open Mucka in the Play Store →
Or search the Play Store for "Mucka". Tap Install, the app downloads in a few seconds.
First time you open the app
- Sign in with the same email and password you use on the web
- Grant microphone permission (so you can talk to Mucka)
- Open your phone settings and grant notifications permission manually (see below, this isn't a one-tap step on Android yet)
- Optionally grant location if your team's using the On Time Tracker skill
After that, the home tab is exactly the Mucka home you know from the web, packaged as a native app.
Notifications need a manual step (for now)
There's a known issue on Android where Mucka doesn't pop the "Allow notifications?" prompt when you first install. The fix:
- Open your phone's Settings → Apps → Mucka → Notifications
- Toggle Allow notifications on
- (Optional) Pick which categories you want, e.g. urgent alerts only
That's it. Mucka now sends pushes for actions, briefings and anything else you've subscribed to.
We're fixing the auto-prompt in a coming release. For now, this two-tap detour is the workaround.
What the native app gives you over the web
- Background voice: keep talking to Mucka with the screen locked or the app backgrounded.
- Push notifications (once you've enabled them, see above).
- Faster start: native shell beats the web version on cold launch.
- Works with Android Auto (limited, voice only for now, full integration coming).
Don't want to install?
You don't have to. Open app.mucka.ai in Chrome on your Android, sign in, and tap the menu → Install app to add it to your home screen. That gives you a Mucka icon that opens straight into the web app. Voice and notifications won't be as good as the native app, but it works.
Common gotchas
- "App not available in your country". The Mucka app is UK only today. Web version at app.mucka.ai works from anywhere.
- Notifications not arriving even after enabling. Some Android skins (Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Huawei) have aggressive battery savers that suspend background apps. Search your phone settings for "battery optimisation" or "auto-launch" and exempt Mucka.
- Old Android phone (below 8). Mucka needs Android 8 or newer. If your phone is older, stick with the web version.
- Push permission won't toggle on. Try uninstalling and reinstalling once. If it still doesn't, that's a bug, raise a support ticket and we'll look.
