Somebody rings up and calls it off. Set the job's status to Cancelled and Mucka takes it off your diary but keeps the record.
How to do it
Open the job, change Status to Cancelled, and save. You can also do it from the arrow on any job card without opening it, or just tell Mucka: "cancel Friday's bathroom install at the Powells".
Cancelling is an office job. Your engineers and subcontractors can take a job as far as finished, but Cancelled isn't in their list — the work usually still needs doing, and someone in the office needs to decide that.
What happens
- It comes off your diary. The week, the day, the month, your phone, and your subcontractors' combined week. The slot reads free again, so you can book something else into it and Mucka's phone receptionist can offer it to the next caller.
- It comes off your Google or Outlook calendar too, if you've got one connected. That's the important one — otherwise your engineer's phone still has it and they drive out to it.
- Anyone who was on it gets told on their phone, so they stop planning around it.
- The customer's texts stop. Any booking confirmation or reminder still queued for that job is pulled, so nobody gets a "see you tomorrow" about a job that isn't happening.
- Nothing is deleted. The job stays on the customer's record marked Cancelled, stays in your jobs list, and is still searchable.
Seeing who keeps cancelling
Open a customer and look under Notes & flags. If they've had appointments cancelled, you'll see a Cancellations line — how many, and when the last one was.
It counts every cancelled job on that customer, and it updates itself, so it's always in step with the job list further down the page.
One thing it deliberately doesn't say is whose fault it was. Mucka doesn't ask for a reason when you cancel, so a job you moved yourself and a job the customer called off look the same to it. Read it as "how often has this appointment not happened", not as a black mark.
Cancelled or deleted?
Cancel when the appointment was real and didn't happen. You keep the history, and the customer's record shows it.
Delete when the job shouldn't exist at all — booked twice, or put in for the wrong customer. There's no undo on a delete. See Delete a job.
Common gotchas
- Finished jobs stay on the diary. Only cancelled work is hidden. If you get a job done a day early, it stays sat where it was booked, which is what you want — you can see it got done.
- Changed your mind? Put the status back to Scheduled and the job returns to the diary in its old slot, calendar entry and all.
- The customer isn't told. Cancelling stops Mucka's own texts about the job, but it doesn't send an apology. If they're expecting you, message them yourself.
- Renamed the status? If you call it something else in Settings, that's fine — Mucka goes on what the status means, not what it's called, so your own wording works exactly the same.
