Delete a property you have twice

Get rid of a duplicate address — move the work onto the record you are keeping first, then delete the empty one from Edit address.

Walkthrough coming soon
90-second video. We're recording these now.

Two rows for the same house happens — a postcode typed with a letter out, an import that landed the address twice, someone adding it fresh rather than picking the one already there. You can now delete the spare.

Delete one

  1. Open the property you want rid of — Properties, then the address.
  2. Tap Edit.
  3. At the bottom, tap Delete this address.
  4. Tap it again to confirm.

It is gone straight away. There is no bin to fish it back out of, so the order below matters.

Move the work first

Mucka will not delete an address that still has anything on it — a job, a quote, an invoice, a certificate, a service reminder, a plan. It tells you what is in the way:

This address still has 2 jobs and 1 certificate on it. Move them onto the address you're keeping first, then delete this one.

That is deliberate rather than fussy. Deleting the address off a finished job would not delete the job — it would leave it saying nothing about where the work happened, and there is no way to put that back. So open each one, change its property to the record you are keeping, and then come back.

Tenants, access notes and appliances go with it. Those only ever described that one record, so they are not in the way — but check the address you are keeping has them too before you delete, because they will not move themselves.

Which one to keep

Keep the one the work is already on, and move the odds and ends across to it. If both have work on them, pick either and move the smaller pile.

The one with a customer linked to it is usually the keeper. An address with nobody on it is the one that got added by mistake.

Stopping it happening again

When you correct an address and the corrected version matches one you already hold, Mucka now says so before it saves:

This address is already on file as 4H South Baffin Street, Dundee, DD4 6JW. Save again to keep both, or delete whichever one has no work on it.

Tapping Save anyway keeps both — sometimes that is right, two flats in one building written the same way. Usually it is the warning you wanted.

Who can do it

Owners and managers. It is its own permission — Delete properties in Settings → Roles — separate from deleting a customer, because an address can carry work for several customers at once.

What you cannot delete

An address mirrored from JobLogic has no delete button, the same as its customers and jobs: JobLogic is still the source of truth for those, and the next sync would bring the address straight back. Delete it in JobLogic instead.

If you are stuck with one you cannot shift, ask Mucka — it can tell you exactly what is holding the address, and raise it with us if it is something you cannot move yourself.
