A survey is the visit before the quote: you walk round the house, look at the old boiler, work out where the new one goes and how the flue gets out. Mucka gives you a guided survey to do that on your phone, so nothing gets missed and nothing has to be typed up again that evening.
Installation Survey is being tried out with a few businesses before it goes on general release, so it is switched on by us rather than for everyone at once. If you would like to use it, raise a ticket and we will switch it on. Then install it from Skills.
Start a survey
- From the job. Open the quote visit job and tap Survey. The survey is linked to the job and the customer.
- From the Surveys page. Go to Surveys and tap New survey. A name is enough to start, for example "Mrs Davies" or "the tenant". You can link a job too.
You can start one with no signal. It is kept on your phone and sends itself to Mucka when you are back in range.
With no signal, Mucka opens on its offline screen. Tap Surveys there to see the surveys on your phone and to start a new one. A survey is on your phone if you started it there or have opened it there before.
Fill it in
The survey is five pages, in the order you walk the house: the home, the old system, the new boiler, the flue and condensate, and everything else. Each page has a section or two, and each question is one line. Tap Next at the bottom to go on, or tap the strip across the top to jump to any page.
- Questions only show when they apply. Say there is no condensate work and you skip straight past it. Say there is, and it asks where it runs.
- A failed check asks for the fix. If the wall will not take the boiler, it asks what the problem is and what you will do about it.
- Skipping something important asks you to confirm. Not fitting a filter, or not fitting a CO alarm, shows what it means and asks you to tick that you have checked.
- Each section has Note and Add photo buttons at the bottom. Take a photo of the flue route or the gas meter and it is filed against that section.
The flue section adds up the equivalent flue length for you. Put in the straight length, the bends, and the figures from the boiler's installation instructions (the maximum length and what each bend counts as), and it tells you how much of the allowance you have used. Mucka never guesses a manufacturer's figure, so it only works it out once you have entered them.
On the new phone look, the Surveys list puts surveys under In progress and Complete, and each card shows how many questions are answered and which page it is up to. A survey opens on the page you got up to. The button at the bottom names the next page (Next: Flue), the list icon beside it is To do, and on the last page it says Complete survey. A survey that is only on your phone so far says so on its card.
Your answers save as you go. With no signal they are kept on your phone and sent to Mucka when you are back in signal. If Mucka cannot save them, the screen says so.
Finish and quote
Tap To do at the bottom to see every page and what is still to answer on each one. Tap a question to go straight to it. Once everything is answered, tap Complete survey, there or on the last page.
Then tap Draft the quote. Mucka reads the survey, prices it from your price list and makes the quote as a draft for you to check. It tells you anything it could not find a price for. Nothing goes to the customer until you send it.
You can also just ask: "Draft a quote from Mrs Davies's survey."
Good to know
- A completed survey can still be changed. Open it and tap Edit.
- If somebody changes the same survey on another phone, the newest version wins and what your phone had is kept as a copy.
- If Mucka cannot save a survey, it says so at the top and keeps it on your phone. Nothing is lost.
