Find jobs near a place

Ask Mucka which jobs are near a town, village or postcode — "when is Andrew next anywhere near Pant?" — and it lists them soonest first, with how far away each one is.

90-second video. We're recording these now.

A customer rings from a village you only get out to now and then. Instead of scrolling the diary for anybody heading that way, ask Mucka.

Just ask

Type it or say it, however it comes to you:

  • "When is Andrew next anywhere near Pant?"
  • "What have we got within ten miles of Oswestry next week?"
  • "Anyone near SY10 8 on Thursday?"
  • "When was Dave last out Welshpool way?"

Mucka lists the jobs in that area soonest first: the day and time, who is on it, the address, and how far it is from the place you named.

What it looks at

  • A town, a village or a postcode. A full postcode, the first half of one (SY10), or a place name all work.
  • Five miles, unless you say otherwise. Ask for "within ten miles" and it widens.
  • The next four weeks, unless you give dates. Name a day, a week or a span and it searches that instead, including the past — "when was he last near Pant?" counts finished jobs.
  • One engineer, or everyone. Name somebody to narrow it to their jobs, including ones where they are the second pair of hands.

Cancelled jobs never count. A job finished early that is still sitting on a future date does not count either, because nobody is going back out for it.

Places with the same name

There are eight places in Britain called Pant. Mucka picks the one nearest your business when it is clearly the right one and tells you which it took — "I took this to be Pant, Shropshire (SY10)". If it is not clear, it asks you which you mean. Giving a postcode settles it straight away.

Good to know

  • Distances are as the crow flies, postcode to postcode — not drive times. For the drive between two bookings, see Travel time between jobs.
  • A job with a postcode Mucka cannot place — a typo, or half a postcode — is not left out quietly. Mucka tells you how many there were, so you can check them by name.
  • If you can only see your own jobs, Mucka only searches your own jobs.
