Get your data out of BigChange

Moving from BigChange? Contacts, people, jobs and invoices each export from their own screen, and BigChange emails you a download link for each. Here's what to press, what to watch for, and what to send us.

90-second video. We're recording these now.

Coming across from BigChange? The Mucka team does the move for you. What we need from you is the data, and BigChange lets you export most of it yourself: each export asks for an email address, and BigChange sends you a download link.

We haven't moved a business off BigChange yet, so we bring BigChange data across by hand rather than with a ready-made importer. Tell us what matters most to you and we'll start there.

The exports you can do yourself

Your contacts

In the CRM, open your contact list and choose Export. Confirm the email address, pick CSV or Excel, and BigChange emails you the file. You can export your contacts' job groups and rates from the same place.

The people at each contact

Go to CRM → Contacts → Persons, set the filter to show everybody, and press Export. It only exports what the filter shows, so clear it first.

Your jobs

From the Schedule, press Export CSV. BigChange asks which blueprint to use, which is the set of columns that goes into the file. If you haven't got one that covers your jobs, an admin can make one under Account settings → Settings → Forms → Import / export blueprints. A blueprint can include worksheet answers, so it's worth adding those if your engineers fill worksheets in on site.

Your invoices

Go to CRM → Financial Documents and press the Export CSV icon. Choose the Standard format. One thing to know: BigChange's job and financial document export only includes jobs that have an invoice, so jobs that only have a quote are left out. If your quotes matter to you, ask BigChange for them separately.

What to ask BigChange for

We haven't found a way to export these in bulk yourself, so ask BigChange for them: your worksheets and certificates as the original PDFs, the photos and attachments on each contact and job, and your quotes.

Request for a full export of my data
Hi,

I'm moving my business to a new system and need a full copy of my data, please. I've already exported my contacts, persons, jobs and invoices. Could you send me:

1. Every completed worksheet and certificate as a PDF, showing which job and contact each one belongs to.

2. The photos and attachments on each contact and job.

3. My quotes, including any on jobs that were never invoiced.

4. My diary: every job, past and booked, with its date, time, address and contact.

A download link is fine.

My account is [your business name], and I log in with [the email address you use for BigChange].

Thanks,
[your name]

Connected your email to Mucka’s Inbox? The last button opens it ready to send, so you can read it through and press Send yourself.

Or ask Mucka to send it

If you've got the Inbox skill and your email connected, just say "email BigChange for my data". Mucka writes the request, reads it back to you, and sends it from your own email address once you say yes. When BigChange reply with the files, Mucka puts a card in front of you asking whether to send them to the Mucka team. See Ask your old software for your data.

Send them to us

Attach the files to a support ticket. Open Settings → Support, or just tell Mucka "I'm moving from BigChange, here are my exports" and it'll raise one for you. Send them as they come; no need to tidy or rename anything.

What comes across

Your contacts, the people at each one and your jobs are the starting point, and with your invoices and worksheets we can bring a lot more. Because BigChange is new to us, we'll tell you what we've found in your exports before we bring anything in, and check it with you rather than guess.

Before you cancel

Don't cancel your BigChange subscription until we've told you we've got everything. It's much harder to get your data once the account is closed.

Once you've sent your exports, start using Mucka straight away. When we import, we add to what's there, and you won't end up with two of anybody.
