Signing up gets you into Mucka. Quick Start gets Mucka working properly for your business. It is the short list of things worth doing on day one, and it keeps track of where you are up to so you can do a couple now and the rest when the kettle is on.
Where to find it
- On a computer, it sits at the bottom of the screen wherever you are. Carry on working with it open, minimise it with the little arrow, or close it for good with the cross.
- On your phone, it is on your home screen under your name. Tap it and the full list opens.
You only see it if you are the owner, or someone who has been given permission to manage the workspace settings. Engineers do not get it, because most of it is not theirs to fill in.
What it asks for
The list is grouped so you can see what each bit is for.
Look professional
Your logo, business address, phone number, VAT number if you are registered, and an email signature. These are what turn a plain quote into one that looks like it came from a real firm, because they print on everything you send.
Get paid
Your bank details, so customers can pay by transfer, and card payments, so they can pay from their phone the moment the invoice lands. Card payments is the one worth doing first if you do nothing else, because it is the difference between getting paid on the day and waiting a month.
Get working
Your first real customer, first job, first quote and first invoice. Mucka only starts chasing and reminding once there is real work in there to chase.
Connect your tools
Your accounts software (Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent) and your calendar (Google or Microsoft 365), so nothing gets typed twice.
This is also where you will find the free data migration. If you are coming off other software, tell us what you are using now, add anything we should know, and tap Send request. That opens a support ticket you can follow in Settings → Support, and someone here will get in touch to move your customers, jobs and history across. You do not do it yourself.
Your team and the rest
Inviting your engineers and office staff, turning on booking confirmations and reminders for customers, and setting up automatic review requests.
The guide only shows you what applies to your business. If you told us you work on your own, it will not ask you to invite a team. If you are not VAT registered, it will not ask for a VAT number. So do not worry if your list is shorter than someone else's.
Doing the steps
Tap any step to open it. Most of them you fill in right there — type your phone number, pick your address, drag your logo in — and the step ticks itself off. A few need to send you somewhere else, like connecting Stripe for card payments, and those bring you back afterwards.
You can do them in any order. The guide opens on the next thing you have not done, but nothing is locked.
When you are finished
Once everything on your list is done, the guide congratulates you and then retires itself. On your phone, the Ask Mucka card takes its place on the home screen.
If you close the guide early with the cross, it goes for good on all your devices. Everything on the list is still available in Settings whenever you want it — the guide is a shortcut, not the only way in.
