When a job is finished and there's no invoice against it, Mucka says so — on your Actions list, and again in the evening summary. That's the right nudge for work you meant to bill and forgot.
It's the wrong nudge for work you never charge for. Free estimates, a roof inspection you do as a favour, a look at a job before you price it. Mark those and Mucka leaves them alone.
There are two ways to do it, and they answer different questions.
A whole kind of work you never charge for
If you never invoice roof inspections, say so once and you're done.
- Go to Settings → Work → Job types.
- Under Never invoice these job types, tap the ones you don't charge for.
That's it. Every job of that type, from now on and going back, stops being chased. The job type shows Never invoiced in the list above so you can see at a glance which ones are set.
Tap it again to undo it.
One job that happened to be free
Sometimes it's just the one. A customer you looked after, a job the customer is paying for through their own system.
Open the job, hit Edit, and tick No invoice needed. Save.
That's per job, so it beats whatever the job type says — in both directions. A job type you never charge for, but this one you did? Leave the tick off and raise the invoice as normal.
You can also just tell Mucka. "No invoice for that one" while you're marking the job done does the same thing.
What it actually stops
Marking work as free stops three things:
- The uninvoiced work card on your Actions list.
- The line in your evening summary counting it as money still to bill.
- Mucka offering to draft an invoice when you mark the job complete.
What it doesn't do
It doesn't hide anything. The job still shows in your diary, still appears in the customer's history, and still counts in your job numbers. It's only the invoice chasing that stops.
And you can still raise an invoice against it whenever you like. Marking it free is Mucka being told to stop asking — not a lock.
Quote visits are already covered
You don't need to do anything for pricing visits. Mucka has always left those alone — anything booked as a quote visit, survey, estimate, site visit or measure-up. This is for everything else you don't charge for.
The one it deliberately doesn't guess at is inspections, because for a gas engineer a CP12 inspection is chargeable work. If inspections are free in your trade, that's exactly what the job-type setting above is for.
Customers you never invoice
